Branko Kavšek from DIST visited the secondary school Veno Pilon in Ajdovščina. He presented the profession of a software engineer to 2nd year students together with their teacher of informatics Urška Kompara, which was our former student.
We had a pleasure to host Wolfgang Hürst form 28.11. to 11.12. Wolfgang works in the Multimedia & Geometry Group, Information and Computing Sciences, at the Faculty of Science, Utrecht University, which is one of the Europe's best universities listed as 86th on the Times World University Rankings 2016-2017
MSc DIST student Saša Nikolić has successfully completed a summer program GSOC2016 - Google Summer of Code.
The visitors on the Slovenian Book Fair (23. 11. 2016 at 18:00) had a possibility to see excerpts from a documentary film about the discovery of the oldest surviving wooden wheel with the axis of the world (Ljubljana Marshes, 2002). They coul also meet the creators of the animated film and contemporary interactive comic book "Bobri VOZ": Miha Čelar, Klen Čopič Pucihar and Iztok H. Šuc.
The team of students who will compete next weekend in the CERC 2016 competition in Zagreb spent a Saturday training. The team representing University of Primorska is (in the photo from left to right) Marko Palangetić, Daniel Sijađi and Anton Uramer.
"The Higher Education and Scholarships Fair" was held on 13th of October at the University of Rijeka. Among other European Universities and countries were also University of Primorska and UP FAMNIT. DIST presented a couple of student projects, which attracted many students. More in photos.
Today, on 10th of October 2016, prof. dr. Tomaž Pisanski received the "Donald Michie and Alan Turing" award for his lifetime achievements. He received the award at the opening ceremony of the 19th International Multiconference Information Society - IS 2016 organized by the Department of Intelligent Systems, Jozef Stefan Institute.
Researchers' Night was held throughout Slovenia on 30. 9. 2016. The members of DIST department were present in Taverna in Koper. We presented echolocation learning experience in cooperation with the Škocjan caves Park, comic Beaver carts with augmented reality content, making of 3D digital statue, and Head-mounted display controllable remote camera.

The members of HICUP lab virtualy presented three papers at the 12th IFIP TC9 Human Choice and Computers Conference. The conference is organised by the International Federation of Information Processing’s (IFIP) Technical Committee 9 (TC9) that focuses on the understanding how ICT innovation is associated with change in society and it works to shape socially responsible and ethical policies and professional practices in the information society.
