The 12th mathematical day at UP FAMNIT was held on Wednesday, 23 January. The 3rd year secondary school students from Gymnasium Koper. 95 students accompanied by their professors had a possibility to experience various uses of mathematical theories in everyday life.
As the part of the project "Innovative learning and teaching in higher education (INOVUP)" a workshop titled "The Importance and Usage of Computational Thinking in Learning and Teaching" was organised by dr. Andrej Brodnik (UP FAMNIT & DIST) and dr. Sonja Čotar Konrad (UP Faculty of Education).
Our researchers Klen Čopič Pucihar and Matjaž Kljun from HICUP lab at UP FAMNIT have yesterday (16 October 2018) together
with professor http://people.cs.uu.nl/huerst from Utrecht University (Netherlands) and professor Daisuke Iwai from Osaka University (Japan) co-organised a succesfull 2nd international workshop on MULTIMODAL VIRTUAL & AUGMENTED REALITY (MVAR 2018) in conjunction with the prestigious conference IEEE ISMAR 2018 - International Symposium on Mixed and Augmented Reality. The workshop was attended by more than 50 participants.
A distinguished professor Albrecht Schmidt from Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich has organised a workshop titled HCI Ambassadors with cooperation of ACM SIGCHI. in conjuction to the prestigious ACM UIST 2018 conference - User Interface Software and Technology Symposium. The workshop was held on 14 October in Hasso-Plattner institute, Postdam, Germany. The aim of the workshop was discussing how to promote and establish human-computer interaction as a credible subject in research and teaching as well as building bridges how to make SIGCHI more internationally inclusive and to extend its reach.
Last week, our assist. prof. Branko Kavšek and teaching assist. Jamolbek Mattiev visited Urgench State University where they carried out a workshop titled "Introduction to data and machine learning" for students of computer science and mathematics.
Our students had a possibility to attend a 4 hours workshop about Android AppInventor on Friday, April 14, 2017. The lecturer Dr. Ciril Bohak from the Laboratory for Computer Graphics in Multimedia at the Faculty of Computer and Information Science (University of Ljubljana).

UP FAMNIT held an international conference MATCOS-16 (Middle-European Conference on Applied Theoretical Computer Science) on 12th and 13th of October. In addition, a Student Computer Science Research Conference (StuCoRes) was held at UP FAMNIT at the same time.

Slovenian HCI conference HCI-IS 2016 took place on 11th October 2016 as a venue in the multiconference IS 2016. The aim of HCI-IS is bringing together researchers, practitioners and spectators interested in research area of Human-computer interaction.

DIST organised a workshop on computer security at Primary School in Koper on Friday, 02.05.2016. They learned through practical examples about the traps of the World Wide Web - e.g. they were shown how the passwords can be stolen together with one's identity, and how such theft can be prevented.
