Dr. Andrej Brodnik was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 26th International Multiconference on Information Society. The conference took place at the Jozef Stefan Institute from October 10 to 13, culminating in the awards ceremony.
Andrej Brodnik was recognized for his exceptional lifelong contributions to the development and promotion of the information society. Holding a doctorate from the University of Waterloo in Canada, he actively participated in professional associations, notably ACM Slovenia. In Slovenia, he significantly emphasized the promotion of computer science, particularly in secondary and primary schools, as well as in high school competitions. His central research areas include compact data structures, ubiquitous computing, and the teaching of computer science and informatics.
His noteworthy contributions extend to the establishment of the University of Primorska, where he served as Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs from 2003 to 2007 and is currently a member of the UP Senate. Throughout his career, he has received numerous international and national accolades and awards, including the Innovation Cup in Sweden, the IBM Faculty Award, Golden plaques from UL and UP, and the Award for Exceptional Achievements in Higher Education from the Republic of Slovenia.
