We seek solutions to provide information about food additives and their eventual risks to the consumers of food products.
We develop a smartphone application named Food scanner in order to give users an opportunity to be informed of potential dangers of food additives in food products before they decide of their purchase. The general idea is to take a photo of food product declarations in a part of food ingredients listing and recognize the names and labels of food additives. Then show the user the original photo of the food product declarations supplemented with easy to understand signs of additive risks. When the user selects such a recognized additive in the image, a detailed description of the additive gets displayed.
