<\/p>\n
\n\tWe organize<\/span> or<\/span> participate in<\/span> programming<\/span> competitions<\/span> at the national<\/span> and international level<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n \n\tUniversity programming<\/span> marathon<\/span> (UPM) is a<\/span> Slovenian students’ competition<\/span> in<\/span> programming with the e<\/span>mphasis<\/span> on <\/span>data structures<\/span> and<\/span> algorithms.<\/span> Participants may use and of the following programming languages:\u00a0<\/span> C<\/span>,<\/span> C<\/span> ++<\/span>,<\/span> Java<\/span>,<\/span> Pascal<\/span>, Python<\/span> 2<\/span>,<\/span> 3<\/span> Python<\/span> or<\/span> C #<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n \n\tUPM<\/span> consists of pre-competitions<\/span>,<\/span> three competition<\/span> rounds<\/span> and finals<\/span>.<\/span> At the end of the<\/span> finals<\/span> the<\/span> champion<\/span> of <\/span>UPM<\/span> and<\/span> champions<\/span> of individual<\/span> universities that<\/span> participate<\/span> in<\/span> the contest<\/span> are announced.<\/span> UPM<\/span> also serves as<\/span> a<\/span> qualifier for<\/span> the<\/span> ACM<\/span> ICPC<\/span> contest<\/span>.<\/span> This<\/span> takes place in two<\/span> stages<\/span>:<\/span> a regional competition<\/span> and<\/span> the global<\/span> finals.<\/span> Slovenia<\/span> is classified<\/span> in the<\/span> Central European<\/span> region.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n \n\tOur students<\/span> participate in<\/span> the<\/span> competition<\/span> since 2003<\/span> under the organisation of the Department for mathematichs and computer science at <\/span>the<\/span> Faculty of Education<\/span>, University of Primorska<\/span><\/span>. Nowadays it is organised by DIST.<\/p>\n \n\tWe are<\/span> organizing the Faculty contest in programming for our students.<\/span> The contest<\/span> includes one<\/span> of the famous<\/span> games<\/span> in which<\/span> students must<\/span> program the tactics for their players<\/span>.\u00a0 Studetns then<\/span> compete with each other<\/span> with the players they programmed.<\/span> So far<\/span>, we have prepared<\/span> and<\/span> organized three<\/span> such competitions<\/span>:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n \n\t\t(OIIO \u00e2\u0080\u0093 Open International Internet-Olympiadacademic year the Internet-Olympiads is held in the following disciplines: \u00e2\u0080\u009cMathematics\u00e2\u0080\u009d, \u00e2\u0080\u009cPhysics\u00e2\u0080\u009d, \u00e2\u0080\u009cChemistry\u00e2\u0080\u009d,\u00a0 \u00e2\u0080\u009c\u00d0\u00a1omputer science\u00e2\u0080\u009d, \u00e2\u0080\u009cEconomics\u00e2\u0080\u009d, \u00e2\u0080\u009cEcology\u00e2\u0080\u009d,\u00a0 \u00e2\u0080\u009cTheoretical Mechanics\u00e2\u0080\u009d, \u00e2\u0080\u009cStrength of Materials\u00e2\u0080\u009d,\u00a0 \u00e2\u0080\u009cRussian Language\u00e2\u0080\u009d. The Internet-Olympiad is organised by the Research Institute for Quality Education Monitoring and the National Supporting Fund for Innovations in the Sphere of Education. Our students have achieved some noticable results:<\/p>\n \n\tImagine Cup is an annual competition sponsored and hosted by Microsoft Corp. which brings together young technologists worldwide to help resolve some of the world’s toughest challenges. The Imagine Cup comprises five major technology competitions, including Software Design, and four challenges (although the challenge number is updated annually).
