TITLE:
Surrounding Sensors and Automotive Software Development
ABSTRACT:
The seminar is focused on the integration and development of surrounding sensors and automotive software. It covers the advancements in driver assistance systems, including the application of Lidar, Radar, and Camera sensors for data fusion, crucial for the development of autonomous vehicles. It highlights the laboratory’s capabilities, showcasing its equipped test cars (BMW i3, Renault Twizy, VW Passat), and the use of Matlab alongside various sensor technologies. The research emphasizes the necessity of sensor fusion for improving detection quality and addresses the physical limitations of sensors, proposing design adaptations for better visibility. Furthermore, it delves into software development methodologies like Rapid Control Prototyping and the V-Model, illustrating their importance in the development process of automotive software. Additionally, a special focus is placed on the upcoming HTWD-Hackathon “RoboTaxi” in September 2024, encouraging collaborative programming and testing efforts.
ABOUT THE PRESENTER:
Prof. Toralf Trautmann, is a distinguished physicist and professor specializing in automotive mechatronics. His academic journey commenced with a study of “Technical Physics” at the University of Zwickau from 1990 to 1994, followed by a PhD at the Freiberg University of Technology, where he researched “Radioluminescence of Feldspar” from 1995 to 2000. His professional career includes roles as a development engineer at Endress+Hauser Conducta Stuttgart (2000-2001) and Robert-Bosch-GmbH Schwieberdingen (2001-2005). Since 2005, he is a Professor of Automotive Mechatronics at the University of Applied Sciences Dresden (HTWD), focusing on the development and testing of advanced driver assistance systems, surrounding sensors (Lidar Radar Camera) and data fusion, the approval process for autonomous vehicles, and software development and prototyping using Matlab/Simulink.
