Workshop “Creating Animated Models with Recap and Maya”, Peter CHANTHANAKONE, (31. 5. 2018)
Peter CHANTHANAKONE, the award winning director and producer specializing in 3D animated short films will run a workshop on "Creating Animated Models with Recap and Maya". Organized by HICUP Lab @University of Primorska.
In the workshop you will learn how to use photogrammetry to reconstruct 3D objects from images alone. In this process we will use Recap software from Autodesk. In the second part of the workshop you will learn how to animate the curated models.

Peter CHANTHANAKONE will present a seminar on Monday, 28th of May 2018 at 16.00 at the Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information Technologies of the University of Primorska.
Peter Chanthanakone is an award winning director and producer specializing in 3D animated short films. He won numerous film festival awards and his works has been selected in major film festivals around the world such as Germany, France, Austria, Canada, China, Belgium, S. Korea, Pakistan, India, Australia, Italy as a retrospective at the 2013 VIEW Animation Video Festival and on a giant screen in Times Square in the NYC International Film Festival.

A seminar titled "Grand Challenges in Shape-Changing Interface Research" will be presented by Jason ALEXANDER, on Monday, 21st of May 2018 at 16.00 at the Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information Technologies of the University of Primorska.
Jason ALEXANDER is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Computing and Communications at Lancaster University (UK) and specializes on the development of shape-changing interfaces—surfaces that can dynamically change their geometry based on digital content or user input and in particular their application to data physicalization.
Tim Bell lecture Computer Science… without computers?!
Dr. Tim Bell from University of Canterbury New Zealand presented a lecture titled "Computer Science… without computers?!" through the presentation of Computer Science Unplugged programme, which is a fun and interesting way to study computer-based concepts without the use of computers through games, puzzles and magic tricks.
University of St Andrews – seminars and Pre-CHI day organised by SICSA
Our professors Klen Čopič Pucihar and Matjaž Kljun visited the University of St Andrews where they delivered two seminars titled "The Missing Interface: Micro Gestures on Objects for Augmented Reality Interaction" and "Large scale studies of habit changing interface design". They were guests of prof Aaron Quigley.
University Programming Marathon 2018 – Trial round
The trial round of the University Programming Marathon is taking place in the Computer Lab 1 at the Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information technologies. The contest is taking place at three Slovenian Universities: University of Primorska, University of Ljubljana and University of Maribor.

The visit came to an end. We had great time together. Matthew surprised us with many things including a video of him and Bill Gates demonstrating live the systems he built with his Vision Technology Group.
Jens Grubert visiting UP Famnit and HICUP lab
Jens Grubert is Associate Professor of Human-Computer Interaction in the Internet of Things at Coburg University. He is curently visiting UP FAMNIT and HICUP lab. As a part of the visit Jens will give several lectures on Augmented and Virtual reality and his research to both undergraduate and grauate students as well as discuss future collaboration with the HICUP lab.
